I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams that a pandemic, which has the entire world in its toes would bring me close to nature.
I have been observing & understanding the ways of nature. It brings a total transformation in my thought process, I begin to appreciate the existence of the tinest of tiny insects I see, it slips me into another world, there is no destination, but every step I take is a self discovery & brings peace of mind.

Come monsoons, and the wild mushrooms sprout in plenty in the western ghats.
They are everywhere in the coffee plantation, forests, on the trees, garden..

Not all mushrooms are edible but they are pretty. They grow in unique size, shapes & colours. Certain variety of mushrooms that we eat pop up only after a lightning. Interesting isn’t it ?

Divin gets fascinated at the sight of new mushrooms & goes looking for them every morning. Surprisingly his granny knows precisely when and where to look to find a particular variety of mushroom. It was initially a challenge for us to identify the edible ones. But four straight months of living in middle of a lush green coffee plantation & the wisdom passed on by Divin’s granny has taught us a lot.

Found this happy place tucked inside a coffee plan

Found this happy place tucked inside a coffee plantation, not too far from home.

There was no road or a trail, but we knew there existed a small waterfall somewhere inside the plantation. We navigated through the estate & followed the faint sound of the flowing stream.

We dipped our feet in the chilling water, had long conversations, spent a while listening to the sweet singing of birds & just like that thick clouds covered the sky preparing itself to pour down heavily.

Our life seems like a waterfall, going with the flow. Don’t really know what’s in store, don’t really care. Just like the flowing water - touching each rock at a time, living each moment as it comes.

Coming to Chikmagalur before the pandemic began was the best escape me & Divin could ask for !

For someone who is socially very active like Divin, it would be nearly impossible to stay indoors & not meet anyone. Had we been in Bangalore, I’m sure Divin wouldn’t have coped up with this!! Living in the midst of coffee plantations for the past few months, in the hill station of western ghats, me & Divin are less likely to meet outsiders. We have the freedom to go out, yet not come in contact with any one. It’s less stressful and relatively safe as we aren’t exposed as much as we would be in the urbans. There is no pressure to stay home, there is no fear to go for a walk or trek up the mountains.

Though people are being cautious of the pandemic, things are as usual & it hasn’t brought much of a change in the daily lives of anyone here.
There is no other place we would rather wish to be at this moment !! And we can’t be more grateful than this !!
